HUDs (head-up displays) have become a popular phenomenon in automobiles, but they are not as common on two-wheeled vehicles such as motorcycles and scooters.
However, BMW Motorrad, known for its BMW-branded motorcycles and scooters, has introduced new smart glasses called BMW Motorrad ConnectedRide Smartglasses.
These goggles combine the functions of a HUD and sunglasses to project useful information directly in front of the driver in real time. They have many smart features and can be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth. The goggles come in two sizes and different settings for rider comfort. They also provide UV protection and can last up to 10 hours on a lithium-ion battery. BMW Motorrad plans to release these smart glasses by the end of 2023, with a suggested retail price of around €690 ($750).
