The Netflix Gaming initiative expands with four new games this month: from yesterday, May 24, Dragon Up, Townsmen and (more or less) Moonlighter are available, while next Tuesday, May 31 will arrive Exploding Kittens: The game. A few more details about each:

DRAGON UP

Hatch eggs and collect rare dragons, then help them regain their magic in this colorful and beautifully animated incremental adventure game. Save the kingdom by discovering each dragon’s specific appearance and personality. Some dragons – such as the pug dragon, queen dragon, and robot dragon – offer better rewards and earning capacities. Expand your kingdom by unlocking more exotic lands and habitats. Upgrade your dragons and nests to make them produce more coins. Collect magical cards and potions and level up your favorite dragons to increase their abilities. The best way to make money is … eat it! Feed your pet dragon Billy gold at the end of each day and you will unlock amazing treasures, new dragons and new nests. Rebuild nests, recover dragons, expand the kingdom and create your own fantasy world. Increase the fun with timed events. Win rare dragons, gems and potions to advance in your main mission.

Basically it is a idle game. This is not a real novelty: in fact the game was already available for some time for both Android and iOS, but it was recently removed to “be reborn” as part of the Netflix Gaming initiative. At the moment it is not perfectly clear if there are any changes from the previous version to the current one – in addition of course to the removal of ads and every in-app purchase (except for the renewal of the Netflix subscription).

TOWNSMEN

Build a medieval city, make important financial decisions and do the impossible to please your subjects … managing a kingdom is not for everyone! Rise to the throne in the mobile version of the acclaimed strategy game. From a small village to a huge medieval metropolis with a myriad of inhabitants. A fresh and colorful land awaits you and your people, who will need food, protection and entertainment! Find the right balance by keeping atmospheric phenomena, disease, natural disasters, bandits and the public budget under control. Send architects and builders to design and build cities and order workers to cut wood and extract minerals. Make sure the soil in the fields is fertile so that it can feed your subjects. And don’t forget to collect your taxes! The seasons will affect the demand for certain goods: more water will be needed in the summer and more clothing in the winter. You are in charge and you are always making decisions!

This also management software not unlike Sim City has been around for quite a while, but has now become a Netflix exclusive. In the transition, all in-app purchases and advertisements disappear, and new maps, environments and skins are added.

MOONLIGHTER

You run a shop in an idyllic village by day. At night, explore dungeons, annihilate monsters and uncover mysteries in an adventure that perfectly combines two worlds. Play as Will, a brave shopkeeper who secretly dreams of becoming a hero in this action-packed RPG.

It is a action RPG clearly inspired by the myths of the time, such as the first Final Fantasy or Zelda. The game, developed by 11-bit Studios, has been available since 2018 on platforms such as Steam, macOS, consoles and Switch. It is not clear what is happening with the publication: there must have been some small misunderstanding because it was online on the Play Store but then it disappeared, while on the App Store it arrived a few hours late. We leave you the links but, in fact, at the time of writing the article the one at the Google shop does not work.

EXPLODING KITTENS: THE GAME

Don’t forget catnip and have fun challenging up to five other people in this single player or multiplayer game Exploding Kittens, the makers of successful board games. Draw as many cards as you can and do your best to avoid (or defuse) the explosive felines, otherwise … boom! In this adorable kitten and luck-based game, players draw cards until someone finds an explosive feline and blows it up.

Also this multiplayer title, based on the popular zany party game, has been available for download for some time, but is paid (and with additional in-app purchases). The “Netflix Edition”, which arrives next Tuesday, will also include two exclusive cards and an expansion with graphics based on the upcoming animated series, of course also for Netflix, in 2023. We will update next week when it is actually available.
