After several rumors and leaks, Motorola announced the Edge 40 Pro in the European market. In specs, it is a rebranded version of the Moto X40, which hit the Chinese market in December last year.

With powerful specifications, news and advances, it promises to be one of the manufacturer’s main devices for 2023.

In design, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro brings changes to its design. It’s built with new materials and thinner, with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front and back.

With the improvement in construction, the device receives IP68 certification for resistance to liquids and dust. According to Motorola, the cell phone can be submerged up to 1.5 meters in water for 30 minutes.

The Edge 30 Por’s screen was already excellent, something that stands out in Edge line phones and with the new version, it would be no different. The Edge 40 Pro features a 6.67-inch pOLED display with FullHD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,400 pixels), 165 Hz refresh rate support, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ certification.

Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro brings Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 platform, built in 4-nanometer lithography. The manufacturer promises CPU and GPU performance 35% and 25% higher, respectively, with energy efficiency showing a 40% advance.

In battery, Qualcomm’s powerful and economical platform promises to offer up to 30 hours on a single charge on the Edge 40 Pro, depending on the type of use with the device. There is a 4,600 mAh battery with support for 125W fast charging, which promises to go from 0 to 100% in just 23 minutes.

Motorola has also increased the memory and storage of the standard version. As of now, the first model has 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB UFS 4.0 internal storage. For comparison, the Edge 30 Pro uses LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage.

In cameras, Motorola decided to remove the 2-megapixel depth sensor from the previous generation to add a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, apparently the same as the Edge 30 Ultra.

The photographic set also features a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 60-megapixel front sensor. In the news, there is Night Vision in video recording and autofocus with active tracking.

In sound, the Edge 30 Pro features Moto Spatial Sound, the manufacturer’s spatial sound. It promises to offer an even more immersive experience with its stereo speakers, as well as support for Dolby Atmos. In connectivity, it brings 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. As for the operating system, it comes standard with Android 13.

price and availability

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro was announced in the European market with a promotional price of €939.60 (~R$5,290). According to the manufacturer, sales start today. So far, there is no forecast for the device to be launched in Europe.
