This week, the Europeian Federation of Banks (Febraban) released data collected by the Febraban Observatory for the month of September 2022 with the theme “Digital Inclusion of the Elderly”, a category that encompasses users aged 60 and over, highlighting the advancement of technology and connectivity in older users.

According to the institution, the survey was carried out between August 29 and September 6, 2022, interviewing a total of 3,000 people aged between 18 and over 60, with a margin of error of 1.8 points for more. or less.

As the study reveals, 90% of people believe that in the last two years access and use of the internet, social networks and apps by seniors has increased dramatically, while 70% believe that people over 60 access the internet regularly — andThis number is 64% among those aged 60 and over.

These indicators may have increased considerably after the covid-19 pandemic, in 2020, when state governments imposed restrictive measures preventing the movement of people in public spaces during certain hours, focusing on the elderly as they are public at risk for the disease.

With social isolation, the inclusion of the elderly in the world of technology has grown a lot, adding 70% of respondents over 60 years old said they have access to the internet, with the smartphone being the most popular device for browsing the web and social networks (88%) , followed by the notebook (6%) and, in third place, the desktop computer with 3%.
