Meta Verified, Meta’s new subscription service to have a verification badge and other benefits on Facebook and Instagram, which began last February in Australia and New Zealand in the test phase, reaping good results, begins today to be rolled out to users in the United States.

The announcement has been made by Mark Zuckerberg himself through the Meta Channel that he has on the Instagram social networking platform, noting that in addition to the coveted badge, subscribers will also have “proactive protection against identity theft and direct access to customer service”, all for a monthly fee that goes from $11.99 if done online to $14.99 if done through mobile devices.

Requirements to take into account

In order to be a subscriber, in addition to patience when entering the waiting list, those interested must be at least 18 years of age, complete the verification process, also providing images of their official photo identification document, which is necessary to have the approval.

Users will also need to have 2-Step Verification enabled on their accounts, and not change any of their profile data, which would again lead them to have to go through a verification process, even if they simply changed their profile photo, a common practice for many users, especially on very specific dates.

Subscribers will also get exclusive stickers for Facebook and Instagram Stories and Facebook Reels, and even 100 stars per month on Facebook to support other Facebook creators as tips.

There will be no increase in visibility in the United States

Unlike users in Australia and New Zealand, users in the United States will not have more visibility and reach across search, comments, and recommendations. Meta is considering some aspects based on user comments, who have shown their confusion about some benefits, although Meta is working to add other functions, taking into account that this new service is still being tested.

The requirements of Meta Verified are stricter than those of Twitter Blue because, as we said, it is necessary to provide images of the identification document officially issued by the government itself, something that could throw off more than one person.

Of course, those who already have a verification badge on Facebook and Instagram will not have to pay to maintain their verification. There is no doubt that the verification badges serve to differentiate themselves from the rest since they were used to authenticate personalities and celebrities, although they are now open to anyone who wishes, yes, upon payment, a change of model that is is giving in the main social networks.
