Met Eireann have issued a weather warning ahead of Storm Barra approaching.
The storm is set to batter the nation in less than 48 hours.
The warning will take effect at 6:00am on Tuesday and will remain in place until 6:00am on Wednesday.
Met Eireann said: “Through Tuesday and for a time on Wednesday, an Atlantic depression named Storm Barra will bring very strong winds and spells of heavy rain across Ireland.
“Winds will be strongest in western coastal counties with severe or damaging gusts possible.
“Heavy rain will bring localised flooding. There will also be high waves at sea and a significant possibility of coastal flooding on south and west coasts.”
Alan O’Reilly at Carlow Weather tweeted: “Some of the latest charts posted here also, remember warnings are going to change so don’t disregard Storm Barra because it has yellow warning at present.
“Risk of damaging gusts and flooding”.

After a cold start to the night, slightly milder conditions will accompany rain as it spreads across the country. Lowest temperatures of 0 to plus 3 degrees as moderate to fresh southerly winds.
Tomorrow
Monday will be a cold, bright and blustery day with sunny spells and scattered showers, some may turn wintry over higher ground.
Highest afternoon temperatures of 5 or 6 degrees as moderate to fresh and blustery westerly winds gradually ease.
