Met Eireann Ireland weather gloomy week forecast before nice weekend change

It’s noticeably cooler in the capital this morning and it looks like it will be colder for the weekend with plenty of rain in store in the week ahead.

But luckily the slightly chillier weather will take a turn with Met Eireann predicting temperatures to jump back up to the early 20s heading into next weekend.

Today will see some spells of sunshine in the morning although cloud will increase as the day goes on with highs of 16 to 18C.

As the night draws in there will be outbreaks of rain and drizzle as temperatures drop to around 11 or 12C.

There will be more of the same tomorrow with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle although it should get brighter by the afternoon with highs of 16 or 17C.

The national forecast for next week suggests a mixed bag of dry periods with rain and showers at times but things will get warmer from Thursday with next weekend becoming warmer although there is still a chance of some showers.

Here’s how things are shaping up for next week:

Monday: “There’ll be a fair amount of cloud in the east and south with some showers here through the day, It will be brighter and drier further to the west and north with bright or sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in Connacht and Ulster and from 17 to 19 degrees in Munster and Leinster with moderate northerly breezes.”

Tuesday: “Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, coolest in the northwest and warmest in the southeast with light north to northwest breezes. On Tuesday night, rain and drizzle will develop in the northwest and spread over Connacht and Ulster overnight. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees.”

Wednesday: “Wednesday will be mostly cloudy as outbreaks of rain and drizzle extend southeastwards to most areas during the morning. the afternoon and evening will continue mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle at times. Highest temperatures of 15 to 17 degrees with light westerly breezes.”

Thursday: Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a fair amount of dry weather in the morning, but with rain spreading southeastwards across the country through the afternoon and evening and continuing on Thursday night. Highest temperatures ranging from 15 degrees in the west to 21 degrees in the east with moderate west to southwest winds.

Friday: On Friday, rain will continue for a time and will give way to showery conditions. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.
