The city is set to bask in the hottest day of the year so far but make the most of it because there’s a big change on the way.

Temperatures could go past the 25C mark this afternoon but it’s set to get cooler by midweek with Met Eireann forecasting a “changeable” week that will be much cooler than the weekend.

We can expect a sunny day with a mix of cloud on Sunday although there could be patches of light drizzle tonight.

Monday will be dry with sunny spells but it will already start to get cooler than the last few days with highs of around 17C.

It will drop to around 7C on Monday night with more patchy drizzle developing and we can expect more rain for the rest of the week according to the national forecast.

Here’s how things are looking for the coming days:

Wednesday: “Brightening up from the west, with some sunny spells developing and just a few scattered showers, mainly in Atlantic coastal counties. Relatively cool, with maximum temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, in light to moderate southwesterly breezes, fresh to strong on northwest coasts.”

Thursday: A cool, bright day, with sunny spells and scattered showers, most of the showers in the western half of the country. Max. 14 to 17 degrees, in light to moderate northwesterly breezes.
