Everything seemed ready for the debut of Meizu 20 and Meizu 20 Pro, it seemed they were due to arrive today. And instead on the occasion of the 20 years of activity, the Chinese brand surprised everyone by limiting itself to revealing the presentation date of the Meizu 20 range. Too bad, because it all came together: celebrating such an important milestone with two new tops of the range, the which also have the “20” in the name. Nothing, all postponed to the end of the month, precisely to Thursday 30 March.
Still two weeks of waiting then to discover the Meizu 20 series, even if on the design of the frame and rear camera assembly, perhaps the most distinctive element of current smartphones, the mystery is gone thanks to the photos published by Meizu on its official website. And here’s the second surprise: the back surface of the two has nothing to do with the image circulated on the net in recent days, they don’t even look distantly related.
However there is a relationshipand many of you will have already noticed why it is too obvious. The design of the camera assembly is very reminiscent of that of Galaxy S23, in the case of Meizu 20 “standard” the similarity is clear. Meizu 20 Pro is saved thanks to the presence of an additional circular element, which is not present on the Galaxy S23 and S23 + while on the Ultra variant it is moved to the right, together with the LED flash.
AND wanting to force the hand with the similarities, the square design of the frame seems inspired by the steel one of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max and so on down to the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, which with their clean and squared lines detached from the past. Even the white cross elementsprobably made of plastic like on the iPhone to allow the antennas to receive the signal, are almost superimposable.
In short, judging from the very first images, the Meizu 20 give the feeling of being a skilled collage. Final judgment postponed to March 30th.
