Today May 25 is considered Africa Day. The reason for choosing this day is that on May 25, 1963, the Organization of African Unity was created. The House of Africa (based in the Canary Islands and activities throughout Spain) presents the activities of this date through its website Live Africa.
And as a tribute to this wonderful land, I am going to give a little review of two makeup trends based on Africa that we can find in stores for this spring-summer season. And it is that the intense colors of the African continent (the blue of the uncontaminated sky, the reddish earth, the black of the skin of its inhabitants …) inspire us and combine with primary and secondary colors to create a bright and summery rainbow with which we will adorn ourselves these months. If we accompany it with the trends in fashion for the summer, with white clothes, animal print accessories and large bracelets we will have a groundbreaking, current and most African look!
MAC, how could it be otherwise, joins the African passion with its Style Warriors collection, which will be available in the United States from the end of May and will reach the rest of the world in June. Tanned skin, eyes and nails in purple and orange tones and coppery lips are the focus of this collection, which comes in a different and very attractive packaging: boxes in golden tones with animal print and tribal motifs. Go looking at the photos in Temptalia and I’m sure they will tempt you a lot, a lot … Next week I will attend the presentation of these products at the MAC Pro store, so I will give you a more detailed and informed review, because I will have seen them, smelled , touched and surely bought… ..
Yves Saint Laurent is the other brand that this season has opted for Africa as an inspiration. You can already find its summer line on the market, clearly inspired by Africa with vibrant colors and the classic and elegant packaging that characterizes the brand. Bronzing powders and two beautiful limited edition palettes are their flagship products. The eyeshadow palette contains 5 very bright colors, highlighting the central blue that I think is the ideal color for this summer that is just around the corner, combined with tanned skin and nude and shiny lips. I’m already seeing the look….
You know, join the African trend and enjoy the warmth!
