It was said a few days ago, on the occasion of the rumor by the authoritative analyst of TF Securities, Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple is working on the implementation of the OLED displays on MacBooks. There is more uncertainty among insiders about how much time will pass before seeing it for sale, some say 2024 while others, like ETnews, aim for 2026.

Although the Korean newspaper forecasts a long time for the first OLED MacBook Pro, in recent hours, reiterating Apple’s intention, it said that in Cupertino they would aim for 2024 for the first iPad with OLED display. And preparations are already underway. According to information gathered from unnamed industry sources, Apple has ordered the design of two OLED sizes for MacBooks and as many for iPads:

  • from 10.86 inches for iPad Pro
  • from 12.9 inches for iPad Pro
  • from 14 inches for MacBook Pros
  • from 16 inches for MacBook Pros.

It is most likely Apple is in dialogue with both LG and Samsung for the development. There would also be a fifth order for a 20.25-inch OLED which would be a foldable display, but it lacks any other kind of detail. There is little doubt that Apple is planning a switch to organic emission panels. The front that remains open is when it will happen not so much for iPads on which the rumors more or less all agree on 2024, but rather for MacBook Pro: in 2026 as ETnews says, or will Ming-Chi Kuo be right?
