LG has revealed its rumored folding smartphone. Although we had heard about this device in the past, it was today at the CES fair that LG has shown its appearance. Dubbed LG Rollable, the device has what the company calls a “resizable screen” that transforms from a phone to a small tablet. The screen slides to extend its surface. It’s part of LG’s “Project Explorer” experiments, and we still don’t know exactly what technology LG is going to use or the size of the expandable screen. LG released its LG Wing smartphone as part of Project Explorer, which offers a dual-rotating OLED display design. We had a chance to test it a few weeks ago. It’s still unclear if the LG Rollable phone will ever hit the market, but the company has already shown this experiment, so it seems likely that we’ll see an LG Rollable in the future. Other companies are also investigating roll-up screens for mobile phones, such as TCL and OPPO. However, phone manufacturers have not yet passed the concept and experimentation phase with their mobile phones.
