Few manufacturers have been able to generate such an aura of admiration around a single product as LG has done these years around its Gram family laptops. And far from stagnating, the LG Gram once again achieve what seemed impossible: to improve.
The LG Gram 16Z90Q hits the market at an ideal time of year for a team destined to be a main work item wherever we go without giving up portability like no other laptop can currently offer considering its large diagonal. And to top it off, this year it is presented with an accessory that we have loved: the LG+Viewa portable external monitor that scares you.

breaking weight records
I carry several LG Gram analyzed over the last few years and it never ceases to amaze me Lightweight of these kits compared to how they looked when I first took them out of their packaging. The first impression, although expected, is of disbelief to my brain when the generously sized device does not match in any way in weight with what logic expects.
Also the screen improves to the delight of our eyes
As has happened to me in previous generations of this family of LG Gram laptops, the low weight of the equipment would not be relevant if it were not for the fact that it is achieved in a laptop that does not neglect the screen diagonal.
This particular model allows us to work fully with a 16 inch screen with a format that is also of very good quality. Let’s not forget that we are talking about LG, something that is demonstrated in this IPS-LCD-panel with WQXGA resolution (2560 x 1600 points) and a maximum brightness of 350 nits that improves what has been offered so far by this family.
The screen maintains a very high overall quality, sharp enough for most tasks given its diagonal, great richness in color reproduction (99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space) and high enough brightness to deal with most ambient light situations. Of course, outdoors, despite the anti-glare coating that does not penalize the very good color richness of this panel, the brightness remains somewhat scarce to offer a fully satisfactory experience.
We would also love to see a version of this family of LG Gram notebooks with a 3:2 screen format instead of 16:10.
Despite the reduced frames of this LG Gram 16Z90Q on all its sides, the new 2022 version surprises for good with the inclusion of a new webcam that reaches 1080p resolution also including IR sensor for biometric identification, as well as double MEMS microphone.
We have verified that the improvement of this section is very evident, especially in the quality part of ) to achieve a correct sensation of surround sound, although all that this LG gram +view costs.
Actually we mean that its usefulness, if you are convinced, can be very high; from duplicate screen to share ours comfortably with other people to the most common of extend the desktop. And all this, remember, without the total weight of the laptop plus screen being more than 1.8 kg.
The operation of this external screen does not hide secrets. It comes very well seasoned and very interesting software news that we will analyze later.
The LG Gram 16Z90Q more than fulfills its main purpose, being an off-road team that although it is true that we would have liked it to wait longer to activate the fans, it should be noted that the sound level they reach is contained and also sustained, without peaks annoying.
The LG Smart Assistant software allows us to choose between different fan usage profilesso, if we need it and we are not worried about reducing the performance of the equipment, we can opt for a completely silent mode taking advantage of the good native cooling of the carbon alloy casing, which maintains acceptable temperatures, with only the heat being very evident in the upper part of the keyboard, right at the junction with the screen and which coincides with one of the computer’s air vents.
When we don’t limit fan operation, as we do when measuring raw PC performance, this LG Gram scored well in the usual tests we run on our laptops in reviews.
In Cinebench R20 I exceeded 3000 points, reaching 3123 points in PCMark Work and 4817 in Home. The graphic section appreciates the integrated Iris Xe and it shows. In 3DMark’s Night Ride this LG Gram exceeded 10,000 points and touched 3,000 points in Fire Strike.
Autonomy greater than 10 real hours
The LG Gram, in addition to the low weight, these years of life have been characterized in turn by offering autonomy among the most outstanding in the market. That union of low weight and autonomy put them in orbit from the beginning.
The moderate consumption of the panel together with the efficiency of the Intel processors are a winning combination for the autonomy of this LG Gram 16Z90Q. First of all we have to talk about a capacity of 80Wh battery spread over four cells.
Although LG sets figures higher than 16 hours, the conditions of use to reach those numbers are not realistic. It is true that with very little brightness and playing video without connectivity we can exceed 13 hours according to our tests, but the figures that we offer in our analyzes are based on real use of the equipment as close as possible to its intended use.
Thus, with connectivity all the time, office tasks, video calls, video and social networks in the background, some photo editing and many tabs in the browser, the LG Gram 16Z90Q is able to offer us on average between 9 and 10.5 hours of autonomy.
Charging, which takes just over two hours to complete, is done
