A legendary DCU bus timetable board has gone viral as it continues to fool incoming students every year.

The Dublin Bus RTPI board is located on a lane near the student bar and has tricked many into waiting for buses there.

However, the buses never arrive as the board shows times for the Ballymun Road bus stop, a five minute walk away.

One good samaritan posted a warning to first years on Twitter to save them from making the same mistakes as those before them.

Posting a picture of the RTPI board, Twitter user Darragh warned: “DCU first years: this is not a bus stop.

“It just tells you when buses arrive on Ballymun road. Don’t wait here please.”

The tweet gained a lot of attention as DCU students shared their bus stop stories.

One student said: “I stood at this for 15 minutes today. Can someone put up a sign please.”

Another tweeted:: “1st year me and my mates out of nubar to head into town, waited there for nearly an hour wondering why they weren’t coming.”

Even former TD Noel Rock got involved in the discussion, saying: “This is totally understandable and logical. When it was installed I considered it very handy – but can totally see how it causes issues now.”
