Launched in 2017 by Bungie and present on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, the game Destiny 2 has remained present in the gaming news around the world for a variety of reasons, which include the developer’s victory over a cheat seller and also, the rumor that the franchise could reach smartphones with Android and iOS.
However, Destiny 2 entered into a curious controversy related to the Warlock’s Bond of Detestation piece in the Root of Nightmares raid, which drew attention due to its format, shall we say, somewhat complicated to describe without entering the +18 category.
As can be seen in the image below, the Bond of Detestation piece draws attention due to its format and even coloring (depending on the skin chosen), which immediately activated the fifth series mode for MMO players, which can be played for free.
Altogether, it took approximately two weeks (this raid was included on 3/10) with jokes and various nicknames until Bungie decided to change the design of the piece.
Since the attack’s release on March 10th, players have made countless jokes about the piece of armor, even giving it a hilarious nickname that I won’t repeat here (check social media to find it; you’ll have no trouble doing that. ). However, as of the latest Destiny 2 hotfix patch that went live yesterday, Bungie has stealthily changed the link’s design to make it more like an eyeball and less like… that. Here’s how much the bond was “nerfed” in the update:

With the hotfix made available recently, Bungie brought a change that gave Bond of Detestation a less controversial look and closer to an eye, putting an end to the controversial “spicy” similarity seen in the previous version.
Interestingly, this is one of the rare times that there is a record of changes made by Bungie to the game, the other two being in 2017 (when an involuntary reference to the Kek meme was observed) and at the beginning of this year, when the design of the Iron Banner Titan’s gauntlets to remove the Z-shaped strips, which could denote support for Russia in the war against Ukraine.
So, what’s your opinion on Bond of Detestation? Did you think the change was good or does it still deserve change?
