AMD is expected to present a new high-performance video card to succeed the Radeon RX 6800 XT, and although the hardware giant is focused on the artificial intelligence processor segment, rumors indicate that the company will surprise its gamer consumers with the launch of Radeon RX 7800 XT.

The specifications of this model are still a mystery, but it is possible that it has a technical sheet similar to the 32 GB Radeon PRO W7800, its “twin” optimized for professional applications. With that, Igor’s Lab released this Wednesday (14) a synthetic benchmark test that outlines the performance of Radeon RX 7800 XT.

To simulate the benchmark results, Igor modified the settings on his Radeon PRO W7800. The graphics card is equipped with a Navi 31 XT GPU with 70 compute units and 4,480 stream processors that could also be used in the Radeon RX 7800 XT, but its video memory capacity should be reduced by half.

The enthusiast used the MemtestCL software to decrease the Radeon PRO W7800’s memory usage to 16 GB of VRAM — which is expected for the Radeon RX 7800 XT — and set the GPU’s TBP to 270 W, that is, just ten watts above of its original power.

Moving on to the results, the graphs suggest that the Radeon RX 7800 XT would have a relatively small performance jump compared to the RX 6800 XT. In games with Full HD resolution (1080p), the advantage over its predecessor would be only 4%. In the best case, with 4K resolution, the performance increase would be approximately 12%.

It is important to note that AMD may effect changes to the Radeon RX 7800 XT Navi GPU clock speed. If the manufacturer opts for higher frequencies than the Radeon PRO W7800 GPU, it is possible to estimate that the Radeon RX 7800 XT will see a performance boost of around 13%compared to its predecessor.

There is still no consensus on which graphics processor — Navi 31 XT or Navi 32 — will be used in the AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, and given that the brand has not confirmed the existence of this model, it is still necessary to treat all information in the field of rumors.
