Irish Rail has issued advice to commuters as a phased return to the office gets underway today.

Non-essential workplaces have begun reopening on a staggered basis for the first time in 18 months, with physical distancing rules in place.

Irish Rail has issued advice to commuters as they make their first journey to work since March 2020.

In a video posted to their Twitter account they said: “Please wear face covering on board at all times and in stations unless you’re exempt.

“If you’re travelling on the Intercity or the Enterprise you must book your travel in advance to help us manage capacity.

“Please use hand sanitiser points that are placed at all stations.

“We will continue to help you by ensuring enhanced cleaning of trains and stations at the most frequent customer touch points.

“Please respect our staff, our contractors and the gardai. Follow their requests and guidance at all times and let’s work together to stay safe.”

All public transport is now operating at 100% capacity.
