Huawei P60 and Mate 60 could arrive in March with Snapdragon 4G CPUs

Right now framing Huawei is not easy. On the one hand it is very active on the front of the patents: in a matter of days an agreement was reached for a bilateral exchange with Oppo and, it seems, around a hundred US patents from Samsung were accepted. However, the activity on the front of technologies in the safe is balanced by a substantial immobility on thehardware. For example, the review of P50 Pocket in November or the appreciable Watch Buds with integrated earphones cannot be enough.

It is making noise the fugitive of the P60 series. The P50s are from July 2021, so we are almost a year and a half away with no news on a front that had remained hot despite the handicap of the US ban. However, something seems to be moving, even if it is legitimate to have some doubts about the truthfulness of the indiscretion. gizchina.com would have learned that Huawei is considering to launch both the P60 and Mate 60 in March 2023.

Huawei P50 Pro (Snapdragon) 72.8 x 158.8 x 8.5mm

In just over three months, the Huawei P60 could therefore introduce new features in the series after almost two years of silence, while the Mate 60 after six months from the debut of the Mate 50. The least convincing aspect of the rumor is Huawei’s intention, absolutely presumed, of playing two bigwigs both in the same month when instead it would be wiser – and it is no coincidence that it is an unwritten rule that is almost never disregarded – to hold two events at different times, to attract the attention of the press and customers on two occasions and to prevent a top of the range can cannibalize the other.

Few doubts that in the next few weeks more news will arrive to confirm or deny the thesis of the presentation in March for both. Meanwhile, we leave you with what (little) we know about Huawei P60 and Huawei Mate 60.

  • chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon SM8525
    • it should be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 4G: the 5G variant has the initials SM8550, but Huawei cannot use it due to the ban
    • on P60 the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G could be used
  • cameras rear P60: main with variable aperture as on Mate 50, 64 MP telephoto.
