How to use Google Assistant’s “Driving Mode”

Maybe you didn’t know it, but the Google Assistant has, among its many functions, a “Driving Mode” that will help you when you have to get behind the wheel. The Google assistant already works with Waze, a GPS-assisted navigation platform, but if you do not want to use this application, you can also use the “Driving Mode” that the assistant has, and that will act as your GPS. We explain how.

The Android Auto system was replaced by Google Assistant Driving Mode.

In order to use the driving mode of the Google app, the mobile must have at least 4 GB of RAM and Android 9 or higher. Taking this into account, we will give the procedure to use this tool that can be of great help repeatedly.

Start Google Assistant driving mode with a voice command

– Open the assistant app on your smartphone.

– Say, “ok Google, let’s drive.” You can also use the command, “Hello, Google. Start driving mode.

– When the function has been activated, you will see an option called “Add driving mode to the home screen”, click on it.

– Make the configuration you want, once you have finished, you will have access to the functions to manage.

How to activate driving mode automatically?

This is so that the driving function is enabled as soon as you connect the mobile to the car’s Bluetooth.

– Enter the Google Assistant app.

– Say, “ok Google, take me to the assistant settings”. In this step you can also enter the “Settings” of the phone and enter “Google”.

– Now choose the “Settings for Google applications”. Click on “Search, Assistant and Voice” to access the assistant settings.

– Scroll down and tap on “Transportation”, select the “Driving Mode” option.

– To start this function automatically, just choose “Start driving mode” – “When connected to your car’s Bluetooth”.
