Podcasts have become, in the last year and a half, one of the most consumed content by millions of users. They are easy to listen to, to find and also adapt perfectly to leisure moments, so we do not have the need to anchor ourselves to a pre-established live schedule. Now, as the months and years go by, the storage of our smartphone may end up collapsing. How is it possible? Well, the official apple-event-of-the-iphone-13-would-be-virtual-according-to/">Apple podcast application understands that we want to do when we subscribe to a program is to automatically download the new chapters, so if we are not careful it adds one over the other and when we want to realize it, we have a few gigs busy terminal storage. Cancel and eliminate automatic downloads This function, which is inspired by the times when data rates were not enough and could end in a few days, aims to avoid having to use mobile data when we leave home. So the iPhone download all those chapters and voila, we have guaranteed offline playback. But since we don’t want it to do that now, we are going to tell you how to deactivate it. The first thing is to go to a chapter that we are listening to of our favorite program. We touch on the three horizontal points that we will see at the bottom right and select “Go to the program”. Now we are at the home of that podcast and we have to tell the app to stop downloading all the chapters automatically. So we touch above, on the icon that looks like a WhatsApp check, to indicate that we want to “Disable automatic downloads”. With the above we already make sure that the phone will not download any new chapter that is published, which will not remove so that we receive notifications with each change that occurs in the channel. The only difference is that now, when listening to a new audio, the iPhone will begin to download it with the active connection that it has at that moment, be it Wi-Fi or 4G or 5G data networks. Finally, we are going to tell Apple Podcasts to delete all the chapters that we have downloaded on the phone, to free up space. From the program screen, click on the three horizontal points that you will see in the upper right part and, there, choose the “Delete downloads” function. If for any reason you cannot find this option, it will mean that the chapters of that podcast are not being downloaded automatically. >
