Way to transfer media to Google Photos with the Facebook ‘app’

It was last December when Facebook announced to the world who had prepared an application, within the social network, that it allowed transferring all the images and videos of our profile to the cloud of those of Mountain View. Although in the fine print there was a problem: it would only be available first in Ireland.

Now, this tool has been extended to other countries although it gives the feeling that in the case of our country, it has been implemented for some days. Why it has been suspiciously easy to find it within Facebook’s own mobile and tablet applications. Both on iOS and Android. So we are going to explain how to do it quickly.

Full and automatic backup

This option is a little hidden but it is easy to access and is responsible for passing those data to our account within Google Photos automatically. Keep this in mind for future backups, lest you end up having repeated content in the Mountain View cloud after various backup procedures.

To export these photos and videos you must click on the lower right tab of the three horizontal lines. We go down the screen and at the bottom, you will see the option “Settings and privacy”.

Click on it and once inside, you go to “Settings”, where an immense list of options will appear to configure your Facebook account.

Inside “Settings” we are going to “Transfer a copy of your photos or videos”, and then write the password for our Facebook account. We are already on the last of the screens and more or less, in the central part, you will see a selector in the “Choose destination” section. Now you will see, at the bottom, a single possibility: Google Photos. We select and accept it by tapping “Ok”.

Then click on “Continue” and the app It will ask us to access the Google account, writing the username and password. If you have two-step verification activated, you accept with the method you have chosen by default and the process will conclude.

Once these steps are completed, all those contents will start to be copied in a transparent way for the user, that is, between platforms, so you will not have to wait in the smartphone to bring up a taskbar or anything like that. In this way, all the multimedia content will be transferred. Be very careful because that includes ALL the photos and videos, be they family or friends … and even memes.
