Microsoft has begun experimenting with a number of optimizations for its xCloud cloud game streaming service, which will allow its subscribers to get some visual improvements of the game titles you are enjoying, that is, get more detailed and clear elements on the screen.
These series of optimizations are available under the new function called Clarity boost, for which those who currently want to enjoy it, must activate previously, as long as they find the current one Canary version from Microsoft Edge.
Remember that Edge’s Canary channel, as in Chromium, is a channel dedicated to the launch of new versions in development with experimental functions so that they begin to be tested before continuing to advance through the rest of the channels until reaching the stable channel.
According to Microsoft in a statement:
This feature uses a set of client-side scaling enhancements to improve the visual quality of the video stream.
But the most curious thing about the matter is that Microsoft promises that the new function will reach all Microsoft Edge users next year, that is, that it will be necessary to use Microsoft’s web browser to receive these visual improvements from the transmission platform of Microsoft cloud games.
Or put another way, that users of other web browsers will not be able to benefit from this function, not at least in the short term, although there is always the possibility that Microsoft can open their hand and give the opportunity that users of other browsers can also enjoy this function, as long as no one comes forward and manages to take it to users of other browsers in an unofficial way .
In any case, it is an improvement that will be welcome for those who enjoy Microsoft’s xCloud service, which is an incentive so that the rest of the competitors are not left behind and are forced to continue improving their respective services.
According to the company, these are the steps to follow to enjoy the new function:
- Download Microsoft Edge Canary
- To confirm that you are in Microsoft Edge Canary, navigate to edge: // settings / help to make sure you are at version 96.0.1033.0 or later.
- To enable Clarity Boost, go to www.xbox.com/play, log in and start a game
- Open the menu of more actions (…)
- Select the Enable Clarity Boost option.
Those who wish to have more information will find it on the subreddit dedicated to Xbox Insiders users.
