For those who may find it more comfortable to use Google Meet through the web instead of using mobile applications, starting today and over the next few weeks, a feature will be coming to them that will help them appear better on screen.

It’s about the new feature in charge of adjusting the brightness level automatically for those users who are in low exposure conditions, and therefore, they cannot be seen well in front of the other participants in a video call session.

This can occur, for example, if users are in scenarios where there is a high level of light behind them, appearing against the light, which makes it difficult for the web cameras themselves to obtain the best possible image of the participants.

The new feature will also offer a notification to the user indicating its operation before the detection of the low exposure found of the same through the webcam.

This launch comes almost a year and a half after the launch of Low Light Mode to mobile applications for Android and iOS, where artificial intelligence will be in charge of making the necessary improvements in brightness settings.

For Google Meet on the web, this feature requires Chrome or Chrome OS 90 or later, or Microsoft Edge to work, as well as hardware acceleration enabled and support for WebGL.

It may happen that this feature can slow down the performance of the computerTherefore, Google recommends having a computer with a processor with two or more cores and with support for hyperprocessing.

Users can disable it if necessary and this feature will not offer any control for the administrators themselves. This feature can be enjoyed by all Google Workspace customers as well as G Suite editions for Education as well as business customers.
