It is logical that if we have the phone plugged into the car and we use it to consult all the maps when we need to follow a route, music is also integrated so you don’t have to leave the app every time we want to change the subject, repeat the previous one or pause the music. Don’t think that simple idea of linking both platforms came up years ago, many, not at all: Waze had to come and lay the foundations for this collaboration.

From this Waze-Google business connection, the possibility of linking a music service, usually the one in which we have an active account and a subscription to enjoy its millions of different songs, came to the Mountain View maps app. But of course, if we do not say anything, it is very possible that the option chosen by default the application is not what we want. So, do you know how to change it manually?

The interface has changed a lot

Google Maps in recent weeks has given a radical change to many of its menus and, in the case of the iPhone version, it is right now the one that has most transformed its configuration pages. Yes, although the appearance changes, the functions are located in the same place, which is an advantage when modifying this parameter in both iOS and Android.

Set the default player for Google Maps.

To change the musical provider we will have to go to Google Maps and tap on our avatar icon at the top right. We choose the “Settings” (or “Configuration”) depending on the operating system we have, and we go down the menus until we find the option of the car browser. Click there and access a new screen.

In it we will see everything that concerns the control of data that appears on the screen and, one of them, will be that of musical reproduction: “Music Playback Controls” for iPhone or “Assistant Media Content Default” for Android. In any of them, you will see inside a list with those streaming platforms that you have available, even with the information if we have a premium subscription to use without limitation.

In the case of iOS, Apple Music will appear by default selected so, in case of using another service you will have to change it, in this case to Spotify. By the way, we have tried to see if it was possible to link a Play Music or YouTube Music account and we did not succeed, so it seems that it only works with the flat rates of Swedes or North Americans.
