Honor invests 10% of its revenue in research and development. The goal, undoubtedly ambitious, is to improve rapidly to challenge and surpass what CEO Zhao Ming and the company have identified as the industry benchmark, i.e. Apple. By developing, optimizing and improving the MagicOS user interface based on Android, Honor expects to achieve a better ecosystem than the one Apple has built on iOS.

During an event held in Honor’s research and development center, Ming explained that Apple would only steal iOS and its ecosystemthat is, the (only) elements capable of attracting consumers despite the lower hardware of the iPhones compared to their competitors, their design not in step with the times, improved signal reception and lower autonomy than most of the competition Android, Magic 5 (of course) included.

In short, Ming does not particularly appreciate iPhones, rightly or wrongly, is convinced that Honor products (and others) are better in many respects, and that Apple customers remain under Cupertino’s wing for iOS and what gravitates around it. Reason why in Honor it was decided to push on the accelerator of the development of MagicOS, investing a lot of money to get to the levels of iOS and thus enhance the superior hardware, the modern design, above average reception and autonomy and more generally everything the package of elements that Honor believes it has on a level above that of Apple.

Part of the results have already been seen in the field, and the recent battery live we conducted on the Honor Magic 5 Pro testifies to it: the top of the Chinese range has proved to be a product that can easily handle even a day of heavy use. For everything else you can take a look at our review.
