Google and SC Johnson have developed a new predictive model that can predict mosquito outbreaks.

A public tool that aims to help users protect themselves from mosquito infestations and the diseases transmitted by these insects.

This tool can give you a 7-day forecast to take care of mosquitoes

OFF!Cast Mosquito Forecast is the name of this new tool from Google and SC Johnson that can give a prediction of the presence of mosquito populations in a given location.

Powered by geospatial and data analytics from Google Cloud, OFF!Cast Mosquito Forecast is the world’s first public technology platform that predicts and shares information about mosquito abundance. By applying science-informed data from mosquito biology, OFF!Cast accurately predicts mosquito behavior and mosquito populations at specific geographic locations

Any user can request this mosquito forecast for their area by simply typing the zip code. Once this action is done, the platform will give you a 7-day forecast about the presence of mosquitoes in that area.

And if you want, you can leave your email address to have this weekly forecast delivered to your inbox. Just as if we received the weather forecast, we will see that the results are divided by each day of the week to indicate the presence of mosquitoes using different levels and colors.

As mentioned on the platform, this tool is updated every day with billions of weather data points and automatically adjusts the algorithm to predict the situation in certain areas.

At the moment, the dynamics of this tool can only be applied in the United States, but they plan to expand to other countries such as Brazil and Mexico.
