After the update to the weather on the web, the section of the Google app on Android dedicated to the weather on Android gets a new design. The Google app’s weather forecast section draws heavily on the Material You philosophy, rejuvenates it, and also gains in intuitiveness. In short, more than a simple restyling that from Mountain View is gradually reaching all users who use the Google app to check the weather forecast.

Currently, many still view the “old” three-tab screen: Today is the default, swiping left switches to first Tomorrow and then to 10 days, each with a good level of detail on hourly forecasts, any precipitation and wind. After the update, however, the structure provides for a single feed.

So via the three tabs, immediately the temperature and the first details on the current weather, just below the classic illustration which however is much less extensive than in the past to leave room for hourly forecasts to scroll to the left to advance through the day and below the summary of the following 10 days. In short, Google has chosen to cut back on “sympathy”, with the reproduction of the weather in cartoons of much smaller dimensions, for a greater number of information available immediately.

To see details on wind direction and intensity or on sunrise and sunset times you will probably need to touch the time of interest in the hourly forecast section or the day in that of longer-term forecasts, the doubt concerns the fact that, like many others, we have not yet received the update and cannot interact with the new weather organization.

The measure of the step forward made by Google is given by a detail, irrelevant but indicative: the search bar at the top from rectangular becomes a pill. Maybe someone hadn’t noticed, but how long ago had Google abandoned square elements for those with softer corners?
