Over the weekend appeared what should be the first “live” video of Google Pixel Fold, the long-awaited first folding smartphone of the Mountain View giant: we have to thank the developer and leaker Kuba Wojciechowski. The video lasts very little and you can’t see much, but you can see the device open and close. All the software part is completely obscured, so we just have to focus on the hardware.
The display appears to be surrounded by rather generous edges, which at least are symmetrical and allow you to accommodate the front camera, thus avoiding notches and holes. As already anticipated in numerous circumstances, the proportions are quite different from those proposed by Samsung with its Galaxy Fold line and more similar to those of Oppo Find N – in other words, it is wider than long, whereas the Fold is practically square . The crease mark also seems very slight.
For the rest, rather shiny edges can be seen, fingerprint scanner on the power button and a very brief look at the Camera Bar, a now-identifying Pixel design element that debuted with the 6 range.
Google Pixel Fold should be presented on May 10th at the I/O 2023 conference, but will only be available for purchase from June 27; it is rumored that it will cost $1,799 for the base variant with 256GB of storage, while it will go up to $1,919 for 512GB.
