Google has just released the June Pixel Drop update with new features for its phones. The new version brings new options for the cameras, personalization of the home screen with animated wallpapers and security in case of accidents, as well as dozens of corrections at the system level.

What’s New for Cameras

The first news is that now Pixel 7 Pro users have received a new macro video recording mode that captures more details of close and small objects like butterflies, flowers and more.

Also new is support for hand gestures to trigger photo capture. Just open your palm towards the camera to start the countdown without touching your smartphone. This feature is only available for Google Pixel 6 and newer Google phones.

More security

Google’s Personal Safety app can already notify emergency contacts in the event of an accident, and now it’s been updated with support for automatic location push and 60-second emergency call if you don’t confirm you’re okay.

The user will also be able to ask the Google Assistant to do a security check with just the voice command and cancel the emergency call just by saying “Ok, Google. Cancel emergency call.” The user will also be able to capture short videos and send them to their contacts through the application to provide more details about what happened.

Now if you like to go hiking, Personal Safety can carry out scheduled safety checks. Just say “Ok Google, perform a security check in “X” minutes” and the app will send you a notification asking you to confirm that everything is ok.

If you do not respond, the cell phone will send an alert to your emergency contacts with your location, just as it already happens with car accidents. The function is a great addition for those who want to feel safer in unknown places, for example.

New emoji and cinematic wallpapers

June’s Pixel Drop is also bringing new emoji wallpapers. As the name implies, they are wallpapers that can be created from 4,000 emojis with different colors and patterns. The wallpaper can be set as static or animated, reacting to the touch of the screen.

In addition, you can now use photos saved on your Google Pixel to generate cinematic effect wallpapers with background blur and motion, with a 3D effect.

As we can see above, the wallpaper is generated using artificial intelligence and the image moves using data from the phone’s sensors.

Voice recorder improvements

Google is also adding two interesting new features in the native voice recorder of its phones. The first is the option to search by speakers, making it easier to transcribe recordings.

The second new feature is the ability to export transcripts to Google Docs to create interviews and documents with just a few taps.

Renovated smart home dashboard

The smart home device control panel in the notification quick controls got an improvement. Now you can view smart camera image, status of favorite devices, light bulbs and more with just one tap.

Vibration and smart charging

Pixel 6a and Pixel 7a users will now have intelligent vibration that detects when their phones are on a hard, flat surface, thus reducing friction on the devices and preventing damage.

Smart charging will now be available for all phones in the lineup released after the Google Pixel 4a 5G, which are all eligible for the June Pixel Drop. With it, the cell phone learns your usage patterns to recharge slowly and reach 100% minutes before the time you usually disconnect it, avoiding further battery drain.

Finally, Google Assistant now has two new voice options in English (US) and sounds more natural during conversations.
