After a tool to remove the blurring of photos on the Pixel 7, Google Photos is preparing a tool to be able to process videos and make those same adjustments, reducing frames in which the image is more blurry. The expectation is that the novelty will already be seen in the Pixel 8.
Signs of this tool were discovered by the 9to5Google portal, analyzing an APK of the famous Google app. At the time, the feature doesn’t seem to be working or, even if it is, there doesn’t seem to be any noticeable difference once it’s applied.
It is possible that the feature is not ready yet or has not been optimized. Enthusiasts will have to wait and see if the technology is really valuable.
Because videos involve many frames per second, blurring a video takes a lot more work than correcting a photo that may be out of focus. Anyway, maybe we’ll know more about this feature during I/O 2023 or when the Pixel 8 launches.
