Google Messages started to receive a new design for your home screen. The update with the novelty is already being distributed to several users, and it kills the hamburger menu present in the application for good.

In addition, another important change is in the search bar, since it is now represented by a simple magnifying glass icon, something that reduces the previous clutter and focuses the user’s attention only on the content.

The iconic Google logo was positioned on the left next to the word Messages. This is being thought to make the user easily identify the application, as the search giant has standardized the interface of its apps.

Check out how it turned out below:

With the change, all the settings that were previously present in the hamburger menu were now taken into the submenu that appears when touching the user’s photo (in the right corner).

Thus, it will be possible to access archived messages, spam, connected devices and even other general settings of the application itself.

The option to migrate the theme to dark or light has been relocated within the settings page.

According to Google, this change should make the user able to access all application settings in one place and without having to scroll a lot.

For now, the news is being released slowly and gradually through an update on the Play Store.
