A new feature has appeared in the APK of the Google Messages app. While how it works is still a mystery, it’s safe to assume that an AI would be used to answer text messages for you.
Google, like many others in Silicon Valley, wants to bet on artificial intelligence in the future. The Mountain View firm highlights Bard, its dedicated software. This one could be put to use in the Google Messages app.
This novelty was spotted in the APK of the application by the 9to5Google site. As a reminder, Messages is the default texting software on Android, sometimes replaced by a manufacturer app. It welcomes a new button, in the form of sparks, reminiscent of Bard.
Google could use AI to respond to messages
Appearing just to the left of the Emoji button in the chat window, this sparkle button still holds many secrets. By pressing it, an automatic response is written. The latter only displays a (TODO!), which means that it is not yet incorporated. 9to5Google specifies that this could be a feature that would allow the message received to be analyzed to generate a response through AI. No need to worry about finding an adequate formula, Bard would do it for you!

The American site also indicates that the written answer (just TODO for the moment) is not sent automatically. By pressing the spark, we just have the message written, it’s up to us to send it afterwards. On paper, this feature is therefore promising. It remains to be seen whether in fact, it will be what we imagine. Google Messages has had a major overhaul in recent months, but that doesn’t stop Google from continuing to improve it. The Mountain View firm has a habit of bringing a lot of small new features to its apps over time, and automatic writing could be one of them.
Google is obviously not the only company to bet on AI. Microsoft is also working on the subject, in particular with Bing. A few days ago, a new tool was put online by Microsoft: Bing Image Creator image generation. A small revolution that allows you to give life to your wildest ideas.
