The COVID-19 pandemic considerably increased teleworking and, as Google Meet is a very useful tool for digital meetings, Google decided to make it completely free. Of course, it was for a limited time and, despite extending beyond what was initially planned, a year ago they warned that they would close the tap. Now it’s official that Google Meet is again paid for some functions.

This is especially notable in calls with three or more members, which will no longer have unlimited time as has happened in the last two years. From Google they understand that the exceptional situation has already ended and it will be time to checkout if they want to enjoy the most complete options of their video call tool.

Surely today you have received an email in your Google account notifying you of the changes in Google Meet. If not, we summarize it for you: returns the time limit to group calls with three or more participants.

With the exclusion made by Google in 2020, its video calling tool allowed group calls without a time limit. However, now it returns to what was seen before the pandemic and There will only be 60 minutes for calls with more than two people.

During that first hour, there will be no problem in the group call. For its part, calls from two members stay the same. In other words, we can hold meetings for up to 24 hours uninterrupted without having to have any subscription, but as long as we are two people on the call.

To be able to enjoy the full video call tool, as well as other advantages in Gmail or more storage space in Google Drive, you will have to subscribe to one of the Google One plans that include Google Workspace Premium or directly to it.

Therefore, assuming that other advantages will be obtained, getting hold of Full Google Meet costs 9.99 euros per month at least. From now on, it will be the only way we will have to be able to make group video calls for more than an hour without being interrupted by the new / old Google limitation.
