O google drive received a new design based on the Material You concept for its web version. Now, users who access the company’s service through a browser will have a more intuitive and up-to-date look.

The company had announced last February that Material You would finally expand to Google Drive and its various web tools. The company followed through on what it said and released the news widely a few weeks later.

Overall, the redesign of the Google Drive web tools with the Material You design is relatively subtle, with the homepage showing files and folders in a grid of blue blocks. Blocks and drop shadows have been improved.

The section of the page with files and folders has a white background, which is changed to a background with a blue tint on the left and top parts. There are also bigger header styles and a new look for the “New” create button.

The redesign still looks like it’s been rolling out widely over the past few days, but it’s been showing up for some users for just over a week now. The expectation is that all elements will be covered at the end of the process.

It is worth mentioning that the Drive tools, such as Documents, Spreadsheets and Presentations, for example, were also contemplated with the novelty and received some design updates in the same style.
