Last Tuesday (13), Microsoft announced the release of the remastered version of GoldenEye 007, a Nintendo 64 classic. In addition to being released in the Xbox Game Pass catalog, the game will also be released on Nintendo Switch Online, but there is a big difference between the two versions.

The game’s online multiplayer mode will only be available on the Nintendo Switch version and this has left many players confused.

According to the game’s official website: “The 1997 title’s online gameplay is exclusive to the new Switch version, allowing 007 fans around the world to participate in the popular four-person multiplayer mode.”

In a statement sent to VGC, Microsoft said the following:

Xbox is excited to bring GoldenEye 007 to Xbox Game Pass for the first time – a faithful recreation of a much-loved and iconic title.

While there are no plans to include online multiplayer as part of GoldenEye 007 on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox is focused on bringing this title to gamers in ways they fondly remember, including local multiplayer, allowing up to four players to join. in a battle of wits and skill.

It’s not yet clear if there are any other differences between the versions of the game, but that’s certainly curious given that Rare, developer of the original game and the remaster, is now a Microsoft studio.

For now, we can only wait for the official release date.
