GIGABYTEone of the leading companies in high-performance, consumer-oriented hardware gaminghas announced the AORUS Gen5 10000an SSD by NVMe interface and in an M.2 form factor capable of exceeding 12,400 megabytes per second performing read operations (or at least that is what a test carried out with CrystakDiskMark reveals).

The AORUS Gen5 10000 is intended to be a significant qualitative leap compared to the AORUS Gen4 7000 series, which relied on the PCIe 4 interface instead of version 5. Furthermore, GIGABYTE itself has confirmed that performance is improved. it is 55%, which is not bad at all.

That GIGABYTE’s new SSD bears the number 10,000 in its name is no coincidence, as AORUS UK has posted on their Twitter account the result of a test performed with CrystakDiskMark. The reading speed was 12,453.90 megabytes per second, while writing speed was 10,074.50 megabytes.

In short, the number 10,000 refers to the fact that the data storage device is capable of achieving 10,000 megabytes per second in both read and write operations, but reaching that amount of data transmission may depend on factors such as the motherboard used, which also has to have support for PCIe 5.0, and temperatures.

In terms of storage, the variants of the AORUS Gen5 10000 will go from 1TB to 4TB. They are supported by Phison PS5026-E26 controller, TLC 3D NAND Flash memory chips and LPDDR4 cache memory.

An NVMe storage memory in factor of M.2 capable of reaching those speeds can only be equipment oriented and last generation, and so it will be with the GIGABYTE AORUS Gen5 10000 being Officially supports Intel’s Alder Lake and Raptor Lake generations, plus AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7000.

It is important to note that this is not the fastest SSD marketed by GIGABYTE. The brand already announced another SSD model last year, the AORUS XTREME, which was capable of exceeding 28GB/s using a PCIe 4 x16 slot as an interface.
