Few brands now resist offering in their catalog of gaming laptops some series that doubles functionality for creatives in a fairly reliable way. In these models, the key is usually both on the side of graphic power and the quality of the screen.
The Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED It is one of the models that most affects this idea, so much so that even the role of creative team far outstrips that of a laptop to play. The key again must be found on your screen, a 4K AMOLED panel signed by Samsung and for which it is worth spending a few days analyzing it thoroughly for Xataka.

Stylish and well thought out design
The Aero range of gigabyte has been in recent years one of the families of laptops with the best look&feel. The 15-inch model with an OLED panel delves into that idea and remains one of the 15.6-inch gaming laptops with the best design, especially brilliant in the reduction of frames, dimensions, and finish.

The design is not garish at all, but it leaves us with subtle details such as the illuminated brand logo, a screen-printed pattern on the bottom of the lid, the air vents or the display hinge systemvery robust and that, with the wide separation of the keyboard and the screen, visually lightens the equipment in a very successful way.
The chassis has been built with aluminum and has a thickness of 2 cm, practically regular throughout its width. The weight of 2.3kgis content for the screen diagonal we are talking about.

In the design we find some interesting details that make it a safe and resistant equipment. We have for example a extra protection on screen frameswhich are very small and with this rubber reinforcement they gain in safety.
If we look at the bottom, almost half of the equipment is exposed by the wide ventilation grille, which facilitates air movement but also the entry of dust and dirt, something that we must take into account in the maintenance of this laptop.

very good connectivity
For a relatively slim machine, Gigabyte has done a very good job at the level of connectivitykey in a team of this category.
The most important thing has to do with the possibility of using external monitors, for which this Aero 15 OLED from Gigabyte has numerous ports, including an HDMI 2.1, a MiniDisplayPort 1.4 as well as a port USB-C Thunderbolt 4.

To be a not very thick laptop, connectivity is outstanding
We miss some extra USB-C port, but in return we have three USB-A ports, all of them 3.2 Gen1. The connectivity section is completed by a successful UHS-II SD card reader as well as an Ethernet port and the essential one for headphones.
In the design of the Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED there are also elements that have not convinced us. We said before that the reduction of frames has been amazing but with it the webcam has been moved to the bottom frame, a compromised situation for its usefulness. It is true that it comes with a cover that hides it when we do not want to use it, but it is not enough. In addition, the lid slides somewhat abruptly.

Regarding biometric identification, we have a fingerprint reader placed in the upper left corner of the touchpad. It has been integrated at the same level as the touchpad, damaging continuity, and its operation is correct both in terms of speed and precision.
Enjoying a Samsung OLED screen
The Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED you have back to your basic laptop comp pillar screen. The interior can be configured in one way or another. Design can go one way or another. But put a AMOLED panelin addition to Samsung, is a value not so easy to get on the market.

That screen that this GigaByte laptop can boast of is also large. Are 15.6 inches as we have said with very few side and top frames (89% screen/body ratio), and also offers a very high level technical sheet except in the gaming section, where they forget about a refresh rate beyond 60 Hz standard.
We have 4K resolution (3840×2160 pixels) and is ready for the demands of those who need fidelity and precision: X-Rite Pantone certification, VESA DisplayHDR (TrueBlack 400) and individual factory calibration. It is a screen that covers the 100% DCI-P3 color space.
The reduced frames reinforce the visual experience with this OLED screen, where high brightness, contrast and sharpness go hand in hand. Of course, it is a bright panel, with the advantage of being striking but also the problem that it does not completely eliminate annoying reflections. And here it does not help much that the hinges do not allow a very wide folding of the screen.

The experience with this Samsung AMOLED panel can be customized from the Gigabyte team management software, called Control Center. In the section dedicated to the image we will have access to different color profilescolor temperature modes or different filters such as blue.

The multimedia experience is enhanced by the sound system, which includes DTS:X Ultra technology. The placement of the speakers between the keyboard and the screen, along the entire length of the screen, is the perfect complement to improve that sensation of sound immersion.
In total there are two speakers available, with 2 W of power each one of them that offer us a sound that covers a lot of space, with good representation of medium and high frequencies, as well as little distortion at high volumes.

Balance Focused Power
The Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED that we have tested in EuroXliveon this occasion is also conservative at the internal configuration level, where a Core i7–11800H is used combined with an RTX 3060 6 GB. This is not the best or most powerful configuration in laptops of this type, but it is more than enough for the user profile for which it is intended, while managing to maintain a contained price.
The Intel Core i7-11800H with 8 cores and 16 threads is accompanied by 16 GB of DDR4 RAM (2×8 GB) and a 1 TB SSD that perfectly meets the requirements of PCIe Gen4 storage, with more than 7000 MB / s in read and almost 6000 MB/s in write mode.

Having a Core i7 in conjunction with a GPU like the RTX 3060 gives us very good performance figures both in raw power and in graphic performance.
In Cinebench it reached 8400 points in the multi-core test and bordered on 1500 points in the Single Core. In PCMark, this Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED added 4216, 4846 and 8330 in the Home, Work and Creative tests, a new sample of the profile that this laptop seeks to satisfy, which we remember meets the conditions to be included in the platform RTXStudio.

In the graphic section, the test with 3DMark TimeSpy is close to 7400 points while in Fire Strike the 17500 points were exceeded.
At the time of playing, because let’s not forget that this Aero 15 OLED has a lot of DNA from gaming Laptop, the RTX 3060 GPU meets the requirements to be able to enjoy current ambitious games with rates above the 30fps if we opt for the highest graphic quality and native resolution of the panel (UHD).
If we want to exceed 50-60 fps, we have to reduce the resolution to 1080p. In our usual battery of gaming tests, under these conditions we got 64 fps in Shadow of The Tomb Raider or 52 in Far Cry 5, while topping 65 fps in Final Fantasy XV.

The reduced thickness design actually hides a titanic cooling job. The system mounted on this equipment consists of 2 large fans and 71 fins each, in addition to 5 copper heat pipes.
The result is noticeable in the heat control of the components, below 85º according to our tests, although due to the low thickness of the equipment, the heat transfer to the chassis is noticeable, but without affecting critical areas such as the wrist rest

In operation, the noise generated by the Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED is contained and manageable except in Turbo mode, where the loudness is already quite annoying, having measured peaks of up to 61dB.
However, it is not necessary to opt for this mode to have maximum performance. The Gaming mode, with practically the same results in the raw and graphical power tests, is considerably quieter and highly recommended.
Somewhat far from being able to work away from home
Despite its low weight and thickness, the battery of this Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED is neither more nor less than 99Wh. However, the UHD panel and the good brightness of the screen means that we cannot obtain a very outstanding autonomy despite being a laptop that is looking for mobile work.
In our usual autonomy test, with brightness below 20% (which in this equipment allows us to work perfectly), connectivity all the time and office activities, photo and video editing, multimedia playback and web browsing, the average autonomy remained at the gates of the 4 hours.

For charging we mainly have a proprietary port for the 230 W standard charger with generous dimensions and weight. However, if need be, this Gigabyte laptop support the load
