The Spanish streaming service is one of the most valued in Spain, for its commitment to classic cinema and for a very reasonable price.
The platforms of Streaming series and movies have become one of the most popular forms of entertainment in Spain. In this market, Prime Video, Netflix and Disney Plus stand out above all. But there is a service that is increasingly important, especially among lovers of less commercial cinema, Filmin, a Spanish company that competes face to face with the giants of the sector.
This proposal is very different from the rest of its competitors because although it offers top-level commercial cinema, among which the classics of the 90s and 2000s stand out, as well as films that are the history of cinema. All this is accompanied by a selection by category made by film experts and not by algorithms, and that is one of its main assets. Not in vain is it the most valued by users.
Filmin has applications for Android TV and mobile devices, and there are several functions that can be used to get the most out of this proposal, which is also one of the cheapest on the market. It has not raised its price since its launch, while its competitors raise rates practically every year.
Tricks for the Filmin app
The application for Android mobile phones is simple, nothing like other proposals, but it is still complete, and even has some features that most of its rivals do not have. One of the basic ones, in which it coincides with most platforms, is the possibility of sending something via Chromecast to the TV.
To do this you just have to Click on the rectangular icon with the waves in the lower left corner. This button appears on the main screen at the bottom, but also in the upper right corner if you are watching a series or movie.
One of the most interesting functions is be able to create movie lists. Most platforms have an option to add the movies and titles that you want to save to watch later to a list, but Filmin allows you to create several lists for different purposes.
In this case what you have to do is go to the user settings, click on My lists and select Create a new list. After entering the name, a title can be added to that specific list. This is interesting if you want to create lists by theme, by duration, by gender… even for different people in the home.
But the biggest difference between Filmin and other platforms, as already mentioned, is its personal selection. They are film specialists who bring together certain titles in Channels and Collections the perfect way to choose what to watch when you have a slight idea of what you want but don’t have a specific title in mind.
These two sections are in the section Explore, where in addition to searching for any title, actress or director, you can browse these types of groups of titles. There are even filters if you want to show only the titles available under the monthly subscription.
And that’s the last feature to talk about. Filmin not only has a streaming platform for a monthly fee, but also allows you to rent certain more current or more commercial titles on an ad hoc basis. Movies like Barbie or Fast X can be rented for about three days (72 hours) for 4.99 euros.
The movie is rented directly from the app, and will be charged in the same payment method that you have for the monthly subscription. In addition, each title has access to the trailer, in a television-shaped button next to the lists, so that you can decide in advance whether or not you want to pay.
