With its Find N2 Flip, OPPO has certainly thrown the gauntlet at Samsung which has so far almost completely monopolized this market segment with the Galaxy Z Flip. The compact folding made by the Chinese company has tried to fill the gaps and “defects”, let’s call them that, of the Flip.

In particular, the Find N2 Flip has a larger external display, a larger battery and an internal display which has a decidedly less evident fold but which, above all, closes perfectly without leaving any gap between the two parts of the devicewhich avoids the accidental introduction of dust when we keep it in our pocket.

OPPO obviously was able to benefit from all the advantages of those who usually arrive later. Up to now, Samsung, in addition to leading the way, has also “experimented” by collecting honors and burdens. OPPO, on the other hand, has followed a more precise path using technologies that have evolved above all thanks to the work of the Korean company.

However, leading the way has its advantages and that of Samsung is certainly that of being in a position of control to be able to respond blow by blow to what the competition has done. After a Galaxy Z Flip 4 that has changed very little compared to its predecessor, several new features are on the way for the next generation.

SAMSUNG READY TO REPEAT

According to what was stated by the well-known and authoritative leaker Ice Universethe Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a larger external display than the 3.26-inch OPPO Find N2 Flip and will probably also use a new hinge with a “dumbbell” closure capable of creating a sort of internal drop that reduces significantly the classic central folding as well as less stress on the panel.

But a larger display, to be exploited to the fullest, should still offer many more features. OPPO has probably limited that of its Find N2 Flip a little too much, which can only display some widgets, nothing more. The ideal would be something in between with what Motorola has done on its RAZR 2022 which has opened up all the apps on the device, with consequent usability problems for most of them.

Samsung is certainly one of the companies that knows how to best customize its devices. The OneUI, in my opinion, is the best Android based UI that can be found in the market today. For the Galaxy Z Flip 5, the hope is that he has actually thought of a way to make any large external display really useful and capable of being used with all apps but in a coherent way.

All that remains is to wait a few more months. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 should be announced by Samsung in the summer, probably in August as it has done in recent years. Until then, obviously, there will still be many indiscretions that will allow us to find out a little at a time. If all these premises are confirmed, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could really have all the credentials to become the perfect folding smartphone.
