Samsung took a lot of people by surprise by releasing an update for the 2018 Galaxy Watch. That’s because the watch runs Tizen OS as the operating system and has theoretically lost support for updates.

According to those who still use the Korean brand’s smart watch, the update is available in Switzerland and parts of western Europe. Generally speaking, the software carries firmware version R810XXU1GWE2 and weighs just over 30 MB.

The changelog mentions that the update brings improvements to heart rate sensor accuracysomething that should also be reflected in the monitoring of physical activities and the accuracy of sleep monitoring.

Despite the surprise update, the 2018 Galaxy Watch doesn’t get any new features from Samsung. Furthermore, there are also no improvements for some software stutters, something that is already common for an older device.

Even so, if you have this device here in Europe, you need to follow a simple and quick way:

Open the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone > tap Watch Software > Download & Install.

It should be remembered that the 2018 Galaxy Watch has Tizen OS 5.5, and its last major update was released in November 2021.

This device was also one of the last to be released before Samsung switched to Google’s Wear OS.
