The Galaxy S23 series has undergone a strength test from Allstate Protection Plans – formerly known as Square Trade – to check how much Samsung’s choice to use more affects recycled material compared to the previous generation. The results of falls from a height of approx 1.8 meters they were then compared with those of the Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra.
First of all, the DropBot robot threw Galaxy S23, Plus and Ultra to the ground by making them fall parallel to the ground once from the side of the screen and the other on the rear body. The same procedure was followed for the previous generation. Well, who came out better from the test is definitely Galaxy S23 Ultraprotected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Sure, the signs are there but despite everything the smartphone has kept demonstrating a slight step forward compared to the Galaxy S22 series. However, it is the rear camera that has not passed the test, rendered unusable following contact with the ground.
Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus went less well, in both cases the front glasses and the Armor Aluminum frame were seriously damaged. Galaxy S23 behaved exactly like Galaxy S22, better went to the S23 Plus variant which remained functional after the falls. Recycled materials and plastic from fishing nets have been shown to provide some durability. But without any miracle: if the smartphone falls on the sidewalk it is quite difficult to survive.
