Microsoft Edge will lose support on older versions of Windows in 2023; see which ones

Microsoft’s Phoenix project is responsible for the complete overhaul of the Edge browser. The transformation should bring it closer to the modern design of Windows 11.

So far, everything related to this initiative is being based on rumors, as Microsoft has not yet officially confirmed or given enough evidence about what is being done.

However, new evidence about the project was noticed by the Leopeva64 Twitter account, which detected a string of text mentioning “Phoenix” in the Edge browser: “msPhoenixShowContainersInEdge” was found on the Edge://version pageconfirming the rumours.

This commit, however, refers to a flag that will allow rounded corners around browser frames. Other changes also include the much talked about “Split Screen” and the new Tab Activity Center. However, it is not clear that the company will use the project to test new features internally or if it will release a new version of Edge in the project.

The string text that was detected raises speculation that an Edge design rework may become available to Insider users in the near future. By all indications, design changes should come in phases.
