Generally we are not interested in knowing what brand or model our router is if everything works well and normally. It is not something you need in your day to day as long as your internet connection is fast enough and coverage reaches all areas of the house. But there may be some time when you need know the model of your router, the exact model or brand. And in those cases we explain how you can find out or what steps you must take to do so.
It’s hard? No, it will only take a few seconds and all you have to do is turn the device (be careful not to pull on the cables and make sure you don’t unplug anything that you don’t know how to connect yourself later) and look at its label. The label is there in most cases and it will tell you the make and model if the technician has asked you or simply if you are curious and want to know. But the sticker may not be there, it may have been erased or you may not be able to see it well. In these cases, we can consult it from the manufacturer’s website or from the operator.

Each operator has a section on its website that tells us which routers it installs and that gives us access to its instructions or to a series of frequently asked questions that we may have about it.
For example, you may have an Orange Livebox but you don’t know exactly what model it is. And we can do this from your website where we see the Livebox Router models. They are all precise but at a glance you will be able to see the design of each of them or read the details to know which one you have installed.
The same with Movistar, which has a specific website where we will see all the routers it installs. But in the case of Movistar we can use a simpler trick: access the Smart WiFi application for smartphones that allows us to manage the connectivity of the home from it, entering a username and password. Thanks to this, we can access information about the router if we are unable to differentiate them with the naked eye. In the case of Movistar, almost all the models are practically identical, so if you cannot see the corresponding label, install the application and access all the details.
As in the case of Orange, Vodafone It also has a section on its help website where we will see all the details of the routers it installs or has installed in recent years. We can see the differences in the models, as you can see in the screenshot below, if we do not find the information on the label or we do not have the label.

If your router is not an operator, we can look at it on the website of the brand or manufacturer. Even if you can’t see a label or an identification of the exact model, you can always see its brand and with this data we can go to its website and look for the help, support or downloads section. It doesn’t matter if your router is discontinued or old because generally we can access information and assistance or download drivers.
We simply look for the website of the manufacturer that interests us and look for the model. Or can we access the control interface of the router (you can usually access your router by typing 192.168.1.1 in the browser’s address bar) and from here log in with our data to access the configuration and review it.
Other tips: Use Google Lens recognition
It’s not the best trick and it probably won’t work for you but you can try. Use apps from image recognition like Google Lens. It’s free and you can take a picture of your router to look for image similarities in the search engine. Perhaps this way you will be able to find another photograph identical to your model and access all the data from the resulting website although, as we say, it is not the best trick you can use.
