Filtered the Ryzen 7000 with 3D V-Cache, which will see the light in early 2023

The competition between amd and Intel has gotten exciting in recent years, and that forces both companies to do their best. Therefore, after the marketing of the first models of Ryzen 7000the giant behind Radeon would already be preparing the variants of some processors of that generation with 3D V-Cachewhich would be the stacked level 3 cache.

An AMD roadmap has reportedly leaked showing the company’s plans around the next generation of APUs, Threadripper, and Ryzen 7000 variants with 3D V-Cache. Of all these possible models, the latest ones have stood out, which could be seen in early 2023 to compete with the highest-performance Intel processors.

As you can see in the image that has been leaked, AMD could be updating families of its processors to create Ryzen Threadripper 7000 and Ryzen 7000G (names unconfirmed). The next generations of the mentioned families would be ready for the second half of 2023, which suggests that we will have to wait around a year to see the next generation Ryzen APU and Threadripper families arrive.

Seeing as the APU and Threadripper families are set to be refreshed many months from now, the focus would be on the X3D or 3D V-Cache models. Among the members of that family would be the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which would be capable of working at frequencies that would exceed 5GHz. This would be an improvement of at least 500MHz compared to the 4.5GHz reached by the 5800X3D.

On the other hand, it is important to note that the 3D V-Cache family, at least in its generation based on Zen 3 (Ryzen 5000), is not ideal for conventional overclocking because the way it is implemented level 3 cache memory makes the dissipation not as good as in the standard models.

It seems that Zen 4 and TSMC’s 5nm manufacturing process are posing an added challenge when it comes to keeping the V-Cache processor at optimal temperatures. On the other hand, it is known that the Zen 4D chips will have a more mature implementation of V-Cache technology and that at least the following CPU models would see the light: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D.

As we have already said, the X3D or 3D V-Cache processors based on Ryzen 7000 could be seen at the beginning of the year, which points to CES 2023 to be held in the US city of Las Vegas.
