Facebook is implementing a new strategy to encourage users to create and post Reels.

Following the same vein we saw with the Instagram Reels API for developers, Meta is launching a new API to extend the reach of Facebook Reels. However, this dynamic has some limitations as we tell you below.

You will be able to publish Reels on Facebook pages from third-party applications

Meta is launching a Facebook Reels API, which will allow developers to use it in their apps to give users an extra option: “Share to Reels”.

The Facebook Reels API will allow third-party platforms to directly enable “sharing on reels,” removing the friction of users previously using third-party platforms and then uploading to Facebook. This API will enable one-button sharing directly from your preferred third-party platform

A dynamic that has a series of limitations. For example, this API is not intended for Reels to be shared with individual users or groups as it is intended as an enterprise solution.

So a user will be able to take advantage of this new dynamic, and publish a Reel from a third-party application, only on the Facebook page where he is the administrator. As for the application, the Facebook team mentions that it refers to desktop or web-based applications.

Recall that a few months ago, Meta also released an API for Instagram Reels so that developers could integrate this possibility into their applications. And these are just some of the initiatives that Meta has implemented to promote Reels on their platforms.

Not only has it made it easier to publish them in different contexts, but it has also added some extra tools that simplify the creation of Reels from Instagram.
