OnePlus has already announced that it would adopt a new strategy together with OPPO and today with the launch of the new OnePlus 11 and 11R it confirmed that the line will not have a OnePlus 11 Pro. The decision marks a major change, as until now all models launched were accompanied by a more powerful version with that nomenclature.
This change in OnePlus strategy makes sense if we analyze its recent launches like the OnePlus 10 Pro, which never had a non-Pro version released, but the OnePlus 10R presented in April and in August of the same year the OnePlus 10T with some improvements compared to the 10R, but still with some disadvantages compared to the 10 Pro.
But all this confusion of models is finally going to end. This is what OnePlus said in a statement:
Starting with our 2023 lineup, we are streamlining the core portfolio in North America (and globally) by removing our Pro lineup. You don’t need to have a ‘Pro’ name for a device that is already ‘Pro’.
Although the note is a note, the president of OnePlus had already responded that the OnePlus 11 Pro does not exist. In this case, that’s a good thing, after all it looks like the company is finally going to focus on fewer devices, which will make it easier to roll out updates over time.
