Emergency services swoop in to rescue hikers lost in Wicklow nature reserve

Emergency services rushed to the scene after two people got lost in a popular Wicklow nature reserve.

Gardai were alerted to the incident in Deputys Pass near Glenealy at 4.55pm on Tuesday.

The Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked with finding the missing persons.

The duo was located using SARLOC technology and the rescue services walked the hikers safely out of the area and back to their vehicle.

A spokesperson for the Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team said on Facebook: “At 4:55pm, Dublin / Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked by by An Garda Siochana to a report of two people, who had become lost in the area of Deputys Pass, near Glenealy, County Wicklow.

” The missing persons were located by using SARLOC technology. Mountain Rescue personnel made their way to the lost hiker’s location and they walked them out of the area and back to their vehicle that was parked close by. Team was stood down at 5:48pm.”
