Dublin parents have said that they are “at their wit’s end” and worried about securing the much coveted PS5 console for their childrens’ Christmas presents.

Darren from Clondalkin told Dublin Live that parents are beginning to get anxious as Christmas approached.

He said: “It’s a very stressful time, every time I’ve heard word of it being in stock by the time I get to the shop like Currys PC World in Carrickmines, there’s nothing left.

“I’m following Smyths, GameStop, Currys PC World and the PS5 Stock Alert Twitter pages and Facebook. Anything to try get it for my son this year, it’s at the top of his wish list.”

Similarly, Lisa from Blanchardstown says that she is struggling to get a hold of the elusive PS5.

“I’m completely at my wit’s end, to be honest. I’ve been looking for it since August, every time I get close it is snatched away. I think they need to make the PS5 more easily available for parents or to ship more into the country, because not everyone can order it online or queue up for hours at a time,” she said.

It comes after images yesterday showed huge crowds gathered in Carrickmines with desperate shoppers trying to get their hands on a PS5.

Shoppers formed a long queue outside Curry’s PC World in Carrickmines yesterday hoping to get PS5 consoles

The queues formed outside Currys PC World all hoping to buy the latest PlayStation console for Christmas.

At the time the photo was taken, it was reported that only 40 PS5 consoles were left in store. Currys PC World have now sold out of the device, leaving many shoppers disappointed.

According to PS5 Stock Alert, Currys PC World are due to have more online drops in the coming weeks.

Since being launched in November of last year, the console has proven to be elusive for some consumers but Smyths have issued an update about when they’re expected to have the PS5 back in stock.

There is good news though as it has been reported that GameStop will take stock of the console this afternoon and (most importantly) put it on sale.

PS5 Stock Ireland Alert told their 40,000 followers: “According to GameStop the PS5 is set to drop ONLINE from early Thursday afternoon, so between 12pm – 2pm!

“You would not want to miss this! Have your phones ready and you might be lucky enough to secure a PS5.”

As for Smyths and the busy Christmas shopping season, supply and distribution issues have also impacted the popular toy store with global shipping issues and container shortages being cited as potential issues.
