Dublin jobs: Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown are hiring lifeguards and here’s how much they’re paying

Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council are hiring junior and senior lifeguards to work on their beaches during the summer months.

They are looking for candidates of “good character” and of “good health and strong physique”. Those applying should also have a knowledge of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Candidates must hold the Beach Lifeguard Award/Qualification of the Irish Water Safety Association or Royal Lifesaving Society (Ireland) or equivalent. The Award must not be more than two years old and must be valid for the entire bathing season.

Job responsibilities

Some of the duties of those hired include:

  • Going immediately to the assistance of persons in difficulties in the water.

  • Warning persons bathing of possible dangers.

  • Collecting and disposing of broken glass, litter etc., from the foreshore.

Rates of pay

Junior lifeguards will be paid the general operative rate of €12.18 per hour. Senior lifeguards will be paid €14.92 per hour, the ganger rate. Those working on Saturdays will be paid €16.74 per hour and those working on Sundays will be paid a rate of €22.64.

If you work both Saturday and Sunday, you will be paid €30.27.Double time is paid in respect of hours worked on Bank Holiday The closing date for applications is June 23 at 12pm. You can find out more about the role here.
