A seagull found itself in a bit of a hot spot after a particularly adventurous trip to a lamppost in west Dublin.

Steven Seagull was trapped after he flew to the post which turned out to be feather up than he expected.

The poor bird was in a fowl mood after being stuck on the lamp post all day before it was rescued by the Dublin Fire Brigade.

Firefighters used a hydraulic platform to get to Steven and were able to release him to his freedom.

A spokesperson for DFB said on Twitter: “Steven Seagull was trapped all day on top of a lamp post in West Dublin. Firefighters used a hydraulic platform for access and were able to release him. He’ll be passed over to @DublinSPCA for a pre flight inspection.”
